AKASH MISSILE SYSTEM
Indian Air Force tested advanced version of Akash at Surya Lanka Air Force Station during Astrashakti Military Exercise-2023 and has achieved great success in this new test.In this test Akash missile system destroyed 4 targets simultaneously hit accurately up to a range of 25 kilometers. India has become the first country in the world to acquire such technology which destroyed 4 aerial targets with a single missile unit has targeted.
According to the information, during the test, four targets were fired from different directions and the Akash missile system successfully tracked all four targets and destroyed them in the sky itself.
Akash missile system is completely indigenous and it has been developed by DRDO. This system has been in the Indian Army since 2009 and DRDO is continuously testing its advanced version. This ability to destroy four targets simultaneously has currently been developed in the Akash missile system with a range of 25 kilometers. According to DRDO, after this success, its range will now be further increased.
Akash is a surface-to-air missile system. Its single unit fits four missiles. Its missile attacks at a speed of 2.5 Mach. It has an indigenous active RF seeker, which the enemy targets the target accurately by tracking it in the air. Aakash missile system can be deployed anywhere by road or rail.
According to the information, in this new version of Akash missile system, the temperature control unit has been upgraded after the missile reaches a higher altitude, along with the radar and telemetry station of the ground system has also been upgraded.
Akash missile system is being considered as the Iron Dome of India because it alone can shoot down enemy fighter jets, missiles, drones and helicopters in the air up to a distance of 25 kilometers and can cover a large area 360 degrees, Will turn it into a protective shield.
India has also made NG version of Akash missile system which is being tested. The missile that fits in the NG version of Akash is so deadly that it does not even give the enemy a chance to escape.
The missile of Akash system works on command guidance therefore when it flies with supersonic speed, it becomes impossible to jam and stop it. It is believed that with the new power of the Akash missile system, its demand may increase further in the world, because many countries have already offered to buy it…the special thing is that it is capable of carrying short range missiles including drones. This system can prove to be effective in the speed with which the threats are increasing. it will kill the enemy even before he can enter the sky.
India has three variants of Akash missile system:-
First- Akash-MK- Its range is up to 25 kilometers.
Second- Akash-MK2- Its range is up to 40 kilometers.
third- Akash-NG- Its range is up to 80 kilometers.
Its speed is 2.5 Mach i.e. 3087 kilometers per hour. That means it covers a distance of about one kilometer in one second… Akash-NG i.e. Akash New Generation Missile was successfully tested. Akash-NG is a surface-to-air missile. It has been made for the Indian Air Force…its entire system is automatic. It can effectively prevent active and passive jamming. Akash-NG has a dual pulse solid rocket motor, which increases its speed. Its range is 40 to 80 km. It also has an active electronically scanned array multi-function radar which can scan multiple enemy missiles or aircraft simultaneously. Akash-NG missile can be launched from a mobile platform.
